چکیده

A well-known receiver strategy for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS-CDMA) transmission is iterative soft decision interference cancellation. For calculation of soft estimates used for cancellation, the distribution of residual interference is commonly assumed to be Gaussian. In this paper, we analyze matched filter-based iterative soft decision interference cancellation (MF ISDIC) when utilizing an approximation of the actual probability density function (pdf) of residual interference. In addition, a hybrid scheme is proposed, which reduces computational complexity by considering the strongest residual interferers according to their pdf while the Gaussian assumption is applied to the weak residual interferers. It turns out that the bit error ratio decreases already noticeably when only a small number of residual interferers is regarded according to their pdf. For the considered DSCDMA transmission the bit error ratio decreases by 80% for high signal-to-noise ratios when modeling all residual interferers but the strongest three to be Gaussian distributed.

Iterative Demodulation of M-Ary Orthogonal Signaling Formats in Coded DS-CDMA Systems with Soft Interference Cancellation and Channel Estimation

The system under study is a convolutionally coded and orthogonally modulated DS-CDMA system over timevarying frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channels in multiuser environments. Iterative soft demodulation and decoding using the Turbo principle can be applied to such a system to increase the system capacity and performance. To combat multiple access interference (MAI), we incorporate the int...

Iterative Detection, Decoding and Channel Parameter Estimation for Orthogonally Modulated DS-CDMA Systems

In this thesis, we study iterative detection, decoding and channel parameter estimation algorithms for asynchronous direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems employing orthogonal signalling formats and long scrambling codes. Multiuser detection techniques are widely used to combat the detrimental effects of multipath fading and multiple access interference (MAI), which are...

Soft Decision Parallel Interference Cancellation for Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA

In this chapter, we propose a new scheme for Multi User Detection (MUD) using Parallel Interference Cancellation (PIC) technique. This technique provides a good complexity, latency, and performance compromise. Among spread-spectrum techniques, the most popular one is the Direct-Sequence Code-Division Multiple-Access (DS-CDMA), where each active user’s data is modulated (multiplied) by a unique ...

Multiuser Detection with Iterated Channel Estimation

In this paper, we investigate the transmission over time–variant multipath Rayleigh–fading channels employing Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS–CDMA). In order to estimate the actual channel state as well as to detect the users’ data symbols an iterated channel estimation scheme employing pilot symbols in conjunction with soft decision interference cancellation is applied. We sh...
